NEW 2009 GB Team Selection 27th June 2009

May we congratulate Vincent Henry, Gavin Pollock, Tanya Gibson and Harry Hoare on their selection for the European Championships to be held in Ostende, Belgium on 29th July-8th August.

 May we also congratulate Vincent Henry and Doon Huen for their confirmed selection for the World Championships to be held in Haining City, China, in September.                                                                                                                                                                   

Officials Coaching Course. Sunday, 5th July 2009 19th June 2009

The Federation of Inline Speed Skating are pleased to announce the delivery of a second One Day Speed Skating Officials Course.

 The training course will be held from 10am till 4pm at the Birmingham Wheels Adventure Park, Birmingham. The Federation of Inline Speed Skating are pleased to announce the delivery of a One Day Speed Skating Officials Course.

 The training course is being hosted by and with the support of The Tottenham Community Sports Centre & Community Action Support at their Crystal Pavilion, in Willoughby Lane, close to the Tottenham Hotspur Football Ground in North London. British Indoor Championships
14th February 2009

The 2009 British Indoor Championships will be held at the newly re-opened Roller Village in Wisbech. Address details can be found on the Contact page of the Roller Village website. British Squad Training 2009 - Feb 15th
8th February 2009

A hall has become available to us at short notice and i we would like to invite all eligible to Squad Training on Sunday 15th Febuary. Only 2009 FISS skating members are allowed to attend. 1995 and older. The venue will be an Indoor Hall at the University of Worcester from 10am prompt. Please bring running shoes. All Current eligible members will be notified, please contact us if you have not recieved notification. We know due to the short notice and current weather conditions that not everyone will be able to make it to this session.

The Outdoor 2008 British Championships Entry Forms are now ready to download, also this year you can pay all the entry fees online. If you wish to enter an individual race and not the whole championships, please download the form and post it to FISS before 13/09/08. All details can be found here  Please remember that no entries will be accepted on the Day (up to 48 hours online)

A Sad Loss to Our Sport
12th June 2008

We are sorry to hear of the passing of Cliff Stafford - he will be sorely missed by many in the sport and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. The funeral will be held on Monday, 16th June at 3.15 p.m. at St Phillip and St James Church, Groby, Leicester. FISS are currently arranging a training course for Officials on 13th April 2008. The course will be run by Brian Wood, venue TBC (Midlands/Birmingham area). If you are interested in attending please contact Head Office to put your name down. The course will be funded by FISS. British Indoor Championships - Inportant Info.
24th March 2008

Please find below some important points to be aware of for the Indoor Champs in Sheffield next week end:

1) Registration opens at 11am - please be prompt.

2) The clocks go forward 1 hour to BST on the Saturday night.

3) The venue is an old ice rink and there is no heating. It will be very cold, so bring warm clothing! (There is a nice warm Cafe....)

4) Spectators will be charged £1 each on entry to the rink but anyone showing a valid 2008 FISS Membership card will be allowed to enter for free.

5) You cannot enter the races on the day but you can pay online up to 48 hours before the event.

6) Unfortunately there is no disabled access as the rink is on the first floor, up a couple of flight of stairs.

7) There are road works on the M1 with a 50mph speed limit (with average speed cameras) between Jct 25 and 28.

President's speech

Dear Friends of rollersports,

The time has come for rollersports to change skin and achieve a brand new identity. I used the term “identity” and not “new image” because the planning and communication project activated by FIRS is a wider and more comprehensive strategy, created with a professional approach towards media and public.
Thinking professionally is the only possible path driving us safely to the IOC Session Copenhagen 2009, a date where the Olympic Programme shall be revised and where the fate of our sports can be changing forever, much depending on our common efforts.

We want Roller sports in the Olympic Games, so here is the project “ROLLER FOR OLYMPICS by FIRS”: a new professional project, with a new unique logo and an increased staff in the FIRS Headquarters in Rome, with distinguished roles and responsibilities working on different activities according to planned deadlines. Key man of this Olympic project is Mr Luciano Barra, former member of the Italian Olympic Committee and Vice General Director of the Winter Olympics Turin 2006, a man whom I can easily call “the right man at the right place”. Mr Barra shall supervise the FIRS contacts with the Olympic Commission and the IOC Members, as the official spokesman for roller sports.... more...

British Outdoor Track Championships 2007 19th August 2007

The British Outdoor Track Championships 2007 will take place on the 15th/16th of September at the Birmingham Wheels Adventure Park .

This year we are incorporating 2 handicap events - a 1500m for Senior Men / JuniorBoys (the Jesson Cup) and a 1000m handicap for the Senior Ladies / Junior Girls (trophy to be designated), which should prove to be very interesting!

World Championships 2007 15th August 2007

The GB inline speed skating team have arrived in Cali, Colombia for the World Championships 2007.

The five man team consists of Christopher Stafford, Vincent Henry and Gavin Pollock who will skate both

the track and road events and Hans Brown and Simon Davis who will be added to the team for the marathon.


The World Championships runs from the 17th August through to the 25th August.

Leon Francis Goodchild - RIP
4 January 2007

This week has been as sad week for roller speed skating in Great Britain. One of it's greatest unsung heroes passed away peacefully at his home in Birmingham after a long fought battle with illness.

Funeral Details: Funeral at Yardley Crematorium, Birmingham at 10 a.m. on Friday, 19th January.
No flowers by request but anyone wishing to make donations please send them direct to UNICEF.
